Director of Cricket at Menai Bridge Cricket Club - Patrick Glover

Hello!

My name is Patrick Glover and I am the new Director of Cricket at Menai Bridge Cricket Club. I'm the one on the left under the Aussie flag and that's me on the far left hand side, posing with my team mates!

I grew up in Australia and have been playing cricket for as long as I can remember.  I started my competitive cricketing career at school level, before beginning my journey to club cricket as a junior at Brighton in Adelaide (South Australia).

I then transitioned across to Glenelg District Cricket Club at U16 level, where I began my grade cricket journey. I spent seven years at Glenelg where I worked my way through the grades, making several appearances at A Grade level across various formats (two-day, One Day and T20). In my time at the club I played with and against the likes of Alex Carey, Travis Head and Jake Lehmann.

My career as a journalist eventually took me away from Adelaide, and I moved to Port Lincoln for a year, where I played for Southern Eyre South. I then spent the next three years in the small mining town of Roxby Downs, in the South Australian outback. Whilst there I played for Olympic Dam, and in three years we won 5 out of a possible 6 titles (One Day and T20 competitions).

In 2017, I made the move to the UK, having been signed as the overseas for Mochdre. After a year there, I made the switch to Menai Bridge, for my first stint with the club. In my first season, we won the Premier Division of the North Wales Cricket League.

In 2019, I returned to Australia for a few years, where I continued to play cricket, linking up with Fulham and Glenelg again for a brief period. I eventually returned to the UK, and Menai Bridge in 2021. After finishing second in the league that year, I made the decision to test myself at Colwyn Bay in the Liverpool Competition. I enjoyed three years at the bay, which involved two promotions (from Division 1), a Division 1 title (2024) and a Welsh Cup victory (2023). I also got to challenge myself in the Premier division for a season, playing against some of the best players in the country.

In 2025, I returned to Menai Bridge as player and club coach. I have absolutely loved being back at the club, which had an amazing culture and is extremely friendly and welcoming. I feel right at home at Menai Bridge. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as coach in 2025, and am now excited about taking on the role of Director of Cricket at the club in 2026.

My role will involve overseeing the running and development of the senior squads at Menai Bridge, both men’s and women’s. I will also be helping ensure a smooth transition for our junior players into senior cricket.

I believe we have a talented group of cricketers at Menai Bridge, across all levels. I look forward to working with each of our senior sides, and in conjunction with Dyfrig and the juniors, to maintain the strong stature of this club in North Wales.

With regards,

Paddy Glover
