About the team

Established in the 2021/2 season, cricket for women and girls at Menai Bridge Cricket Club (MBCC) has really taken off.

We play in the North Wales Women’s Cricket League which consists of 7 clubs competing in a softball league with fixtures running from May to August. We play both home and away with clubs in North Wales incl. Bangor, Conwy, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and St Asaph.

We welcome all ages and abilities and play in both the traditional North Wales outdoor summer league, and the local indoor winter league. We play softball, not hardball.

Softball rules are slightly different to the traditional, typical cricket rules, for example each team consists of 8 players, and you can’t be out LBW, but you also don’t have to wear leg pads, a safety hat or a mouth guard (unless you want to). Everyone bats and bowls, and everyone gets a chance to play.

We also have a brilliant social scene - well what we mean is we run lots of team building activities throughout the year! And you don’t need to worry about the kids if you have them, bring them along too. There’s a very successful junior scene with All Stars and Dynamos on Friday nights.

The team includes mums & daughters, sisters, work colleagues and BFFs, many of whom have only recently taken up cricket or got back in to team sports. Lots of the players have kids who are schooled locally and play in the junior and men’s teams.

Here's what we get up to at a typical training session - see video on Facebook.

If you'd like to join us or have a chat then please contact the coach or team captain listed above or contact the club more generally.
