Welsh Language Policy
Menai Bridge Cricket Club - Welsh Language Policy
Vision
Menai Bridge Cricket Club (MBCC) are committed to increasing the use of the Welsh Language at all levels of the club, with the aim of promoting a vibrant bilingual cricket club. We fully support the Cymraeg 2050 Strategy that sets out the Welsh Government’s long-term approach to achieving the target of a million Welsh speakers by the year 2050. Providing opportunities to use the Welsh language in social and sporting situations is an essential part of this journey. We believe that we as MBCC can play an important role in supporting this strategy in Anglesey.
Principles:
This commitment includes that:
- We will increase the bilingual content on our website and social media channels.
- We will be communicating bilingually with our junior parents on communication channels.
- We will be encouraging the use of the Welsh language by our coaches, junior and adult members.
- We will be promoting a bilingual environment at the club where visual signs and notices are to be seen in both languages with the Welsh language first.
- We will be ensuring that all key documents are available in both languages.
- We will be encouraging our coaches to use both languages during training sessions and cricket games with our junior members where this is possible.
- Coaches should promote the use of the Welsh language as much as possible.
- We will work in conjunction and actively with the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Office, Cricket Wales, the Welsh Sports Association, the England & Wales Cricket Board, Medrwn Môn and other partners and stakeholders to achieve our ambitions and goals with regards to our use and promotion of the Welsh language.
Documents and Information
MBCC will continue to produce Welsh language versions of key, relevant documents and
information where appropriate. We will be working with other partners to ensure that all relevant documents are provided and available in Welsh.
Communication
MBCC will respond in Welsh when replying to correspondence received in Welsh or when we have received a request to do so.
MBCC welcome the use of Welsh in all our communication from our committee, members, coaches, volunteers and parents.
