The cricket season is finally here!!

We are now just days away from the start of what promises to be an exciting season for all Menai Bridge cricket teams.

Both the men’s and women’s squads have been training hard indoors at David Hughes. Both have seen fantastic turn outs with both familiar faces, and plenty of new talent turning out and gearing up, ready to take to the field for Menai this season.

The 1st and 2nd XI men’s sides kick their season off with friendlies on April 11 and 12, respectively. The 1st XI take on Denbigh at home, while the 2nd XI are also at home for their friendly against Hollingsworth CC.

The season then starts the following weekend (18th & 19th April) for our men’s sides. The 1st XI start with two T20s on the road against Hawarden Park and Northop, while the 2nd XI play host to Llay (Saturday April 18). The 3rd XI get their first taste of action for the 2026 season (Sunday April 19) versus Dolgellau.

There’s been some shift in leadership this off season in the men’s sides.

Robbie Jones takes over as captain of the 1st XI side, with Dion Holden also stepping up to Vice Captain.

Andrew Wannap will again be in charge of the 2nd XI, with Luke Robinson taking on the role as vice captain.

While in the 3rd XI, Dyfrig Jones and Richard Wood have been appointed captain and vice captain.

The women’s side, under the leadership of new captain Evie Mainwaring, kick off their 2026 campaign on May 10 against Bangor and Colwyn Bay, away at Colwyn Bay CC. The women’s side will be hoping to go one better in 2026 and claim the title in the softball division 1 west competition.

Good luck to all our teams. May it be a cracking season for us all.

Regards,

Paddy Glover, Director of Cricket, Menai Bridge CC
