Club History
Established in 1973, Menai Bridge Cricket Club has four adult teams, a women’s and girls’ team and junior teams for boys and girls aged 8 to 15. All ages, capabilities and skill levels are welcome.
The club has a long and successful history in cricket as North Wales Premier League winners 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2022. Our aim is to preserve and grow sport on the island, bringing families and communities together.
The superb ground has magnificent views over the Menai Straits and the Snowdonia range. Players, visitors and members come from across North Wales, as it’s the sole remaining cricket ground on Anglesey, has a vibrant social scene and community engagement programme.
It’s a thriving community hub with over 550 club members, partners and sponsors and it’s frequently used both in and out of the cricket season, at weekends and mid-week, by 30+ different organisations, schools/education providers, clubs, residents, businesses and community groups.
The club is currently under redevelopment to improve and extend the facilities, creating more capacity and space, particularly indoors. It will become more inclusive for users with a diverse range of needs by also improving access. The indoor kitchen, cooking, socialising, communal areas, changing and toilet facilities will be transformed, whilst the outdoor facilities, shelter and decking areas will be extended will ensure the venue can cater for all weathers.
The club already offers free car parking facilities, free wi-fi, most home fixtures are screened live, and the popular licenced bar will of course remain (and be extended). There's also newly built disabled and pram friendly paths, pedestrian gate access and improved external lighting. A third outdoor cricket net has been added, with the nets and ground surface all renewed.
Plans to redevelop the club were formed following an extensive community consultation. Over 650 local people, businesses and community groups engaged in ‘The Community Needs Survey 2022’. The club listened to the needs of respondents and created the plan accordingly. We are encouraged that the club can play a greater role in providing excellent indoor and outdoor facilities moving forward.
Set to become ‘the’ place to hold family celebrations, parties, community meetings, social events and business networking, and continue to be a force in the North Wales sporting scene, we invite you to become and member and / or hire the club.
